HISTORY

A beautiful village in southeast Mallorca with excellent restaurants and beaches

Ses Salines is a small town located in one of the most beautiful areas of southeast Mallorca. It's easy to overlook this inconspicuous place, but it holds numerous relics of the island's rich history, dating back to the Bronze Age.

Ses Salines is one of the closest villages to Cape Ses Salines, the southernmost point of Mallorca. This area boasts a long agricultural tradition that persists to this day. The village is predominantly residential and retains much of its past charm, making it an excellent choice for those who want to experience authentic rural Mallorca.

Along with the neighboring village of Colonia de Sant Jordi, Ses Salines was highly valued for its salt production, especially by the Roman invaders. The village's name derives from this activity and means "salt spring."

About three kilometers from the village is Botanicactus, one of the largest botanical gardens in Europe. The award-winning Es Trenc beach is also very close.

The Cabrera Marine Reserve is also nearby, and daily boat trips depart from Colonia Sant Jordi and Cala d'Or.

If you love wine, you can always spend the day in the island's second-largest wine region, around Felanitx, with several vineyards open to the public.
